The Week in a Nutshell!
Welcome to Grimsby Mission Camp 2019. We are so happy to have you join us for this fun-filled week of learning about God's love
Here's a quick recap of how Mission Camp works. Children arrive between 8:30am and 9:00am where they will register and sign in with their small group leader. Opening worship begins at 9am. This time includes singing, a recap of the key verse and an engaging telling of the daily Bible story. Story telling happens with the use of activities, skits and/or multi-media presentations.
At 9:30am small groups (no more than 10 children of mixed ages) travel to their mission site with their group leaders. Groups spend about an hour and fifteen minutes at a different mission site each day. Monday is the exception where everyone stay at the church and we have a group come into to visit with us. This also allows team building before everyone heads off for the rest of the week. On our last day, the kids have made cards and along with a small gift, again head out into the community to thank the businesses or institutions. As you can see, children have an opportunity to share their faith in a meaningful way to neighbours in our community.
Around 11am, everyone has returned to the church where they enjoy snacks and a washroom break before their small group discussion time. They reflect on the day's events, the stories they heard and share what they have learned about God through these things.
At 11:40am, everyone heads back up to the Sanctuary for the closing worship where the small groups share with everyone their experiences during the day. We close out our day with a time of prayer and singing.
Then it's time to head down to Memorial Hall for lunch and we encourage our parents and/or guardians to join us for lunch. Parent and/or guardians are also welcome to join us for Mission Camp for the week as well. Families usually head out between 12:30pm and 12:45pm.
